Red Queen Makeup

I got bored and transformed in to the Red Queen last night. Want to know how? Of course you do!

Step 1- Cover entire face in white make up. If you are doing the look for a costume, you should also be sure to cover your ears, neck, and any other exposed body parts. I used "Professional White Cream Face Makeup" from CVS. Honestly, I wouldn't recommend it. It goes on horribly and it is impossible to blend. After a while I got fed up and added NYX white eye shadow base all over my face.

Step 2- Take an angled brush (I simply used an angled paint brush from the craft store) and dip in Urban Decay's "Painkiller". Any other similar bright blue will work just fine as well.Create a line going from about 2-3 inches above the inside part of your eye brow, down to the inner corner of your eye. Create another line going from 2-3 inches above the outer tip of your brow down to the outer corner of your eye. Do these things on both sides. Draw a line connecting the lines you've made on the top, making an arch. Fill in the shape's you've formed with the blue. No extra definition is needed.

Step 3- Take a black liquid liner and trace along the top of your arches to make eye brows. I used NYX liquid liner from the Dark Shadows Crimson Amulet palette.

Step 4- Grab a bright red lipstick and a small lip brush. Rub the lipstick on to the brush and start by tracing the natural points at the center of your upper lip. Try to gradually make them more circular. Close your lips and make 2 angled lines to finish off the heart. Extend the tip about an inch and a half below the lower lips. Fill in the heart with the red.

Additional Steps- More things that I didn't do but recommend doing if you're doing a costume: Use false eye lashes. Helena Bonham Carter's eyes are very drastic in the film. Use both upper and lower lashes. Also put liquid liner VERY close to the lashes. Get in between the lashes. This will help create the illusion of thicker, fuller lashes. Last but not least, of course wear a wig.

I'm an aspiring make up artist, however I'm not sure that I'm very talented at it. I think its one of those big dreams that I will forever strive for but never achieve.
Any way-enough woe is me none sense. I realize that I need to take action and put myself out there. I'm going to start posting photos of make up looks and you guys can comment and let me know if you would be interested in a tutorial. Deal?

For those of you who don’t know or maybe haven’t realized yet, I’m a bit of an unorthodox child. Perhaps a little crazy by others definitions. Don’t get scared away by this but I like…hear the Nightmare Before Christmas soundtrack in my head all the time. For example I’ll be in the store and go “IS THIS DANNY ELFMAN I HEAR?!” and every one’s like “No, this is Call Me Maybe”. So it’s in my head. But I had pandora on and a Nightmare Before Christmas song came on. And I was so happy because it wasn’t in my head this time. Or my mom’s head ‘cause she hears it too.

Every one is going to be afraid of me now.

The great Houdini

Growing up in New Jersey, many of my greatest memories are based around Six Flags: Great Adventure. For those of you who don't know me, I am a massive thrill seeker and an adrenaline junkie. Send me to the biggest baddest roller coaster out there and I will wreck that thing in a second. I can never get enough. However, surprisingly so, I am not here to talk about roller coasters. I'm here to talk about what is possibly the most underrated ride at six flags. The name of it is simply "Houdini". Even on the busiest days of the year, it never fails to have the shortest line. (partially due to the fact that it looks like a house there for decorative purposes) if you're a fan of illusions, magic, or trickery of the mind in general like me you will adore it, whoever designed the ride is an absolute genius. The beginning is a bit cheesy and haunted house kiddie ride-esque, but as soon as the ride starts-your mind will be blown. No joke. I'm still not quite sure how they do it, but you sit in bench seats with nothing but a bar in front of you. However, you go upside down (or feel as though you are going upside down) several times although the restraints barely touch your body. This is because part of the time the walls are moving, and part of the time you actually are moving from side to side. If you do get a chance to experience the ride take a look at the exit signs before the ride and then during-its incredible. This ride certainly doesn't receive the praise it deserves. If you ever find yourself at six flags great advrenture, give it a shot. You won't be disappointed.
